Dee's Send off, Photos and More

Dee_and_laura_peacecorp

Earlier this month GMM was reluctant to part with her volunteer Dee Ryan from Ireland who has worked in the mission for one whole year. Dee came from Arklou, Ireland and one year with GMM has changed so many things in the organization. She has been working at the child sponsorship program, professional teacher development program as well as teach at Acha Baptist College, Belo. She will be returning to Cameroon thrice in every two years with students from Ireland. A linking project with the Acha college has already been created.

We weep to see her go. There is a big loophole, but there are two girls Jane and Carine whom she has trained and they are picking up in her steps. We need a long term volunteer to put in order many things now.

Jinkfuin elementary school Cameroon was founded to meet the needs of those children who will not be allowed to study in other schools for lack of basic school needs and others. The school through Goodness and Mercy Missions has been helping a lot of pupils. Last year they had a 100 percent in the First School Leaving Certificate examination and this year great joy erupts when it is announced that they have had another 100 percent in the Common Entrance Exams. What is the secret bbehind this great success? Can it be the many tests books and stuff Gary from the UK donated to the school? Can it be the conducive envirnment the children are allowed to study under? In May this year Christina visited the school and donated other study material. This goes a long way to help these children in their studies.
